Heather joined chambers as a full tenant in June 2024 upon completion of her pupillage. She already has a busy family, civil and commercial practice and has received instructions across a wide variety of our work.

Heather has represented local authorities, parents, and intervenors in a variety of family law proceedings including multi day final hearings for care and placement order applications. These have included complex trials pertaining to parental alienation, serious sexual abuse, and non-accidental injuries. Heather enjoys the intellectual challenge posed on a case-by-case basis and her attention to detail has assisted with the resolution of factual disputes in private law matters, negating the need for any fact-finding hearing.

An excellent communicator, Heather is able to build and maintain relationships with her instructing solicitors by providing exceptional client care and has been reinstructed owing to her approach with vulnerable clients, having previously volunteered for the National Centre for Domestic Violence, and successfully supported victims of domestic abuse in drafting witness statements in support of applications for non-molestation orders.

Prior to commencing pupillage Heather gained civil law experience working as a County Court Advocate for a national advocacy services provider in an extensive range of civil matters, including lender services, debt recovery and enforcement, civil litigation, insolvency, and personal injury. Heather has recently been instructed in consumer matters (under s140A unfair relationship claims under the Consumer Credit Act 1974) and is adept at drafting skeleton arguments.

Having won a regional negotiations competition, Heather received training from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution specialising in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. She was also awarded the Dean’s Award Scholarship.
